Hygge

Hygge.

[pronounced: HOO-guh with some oomph]

Sure, most of us have heard of this Danish concept but not 100% sure what it's all about or what makes it such a part of their culture.

My friends and I decided to explore it a little further while we were in Copenhagen.

What we learned:

  • the Danes use it as a noun, an adjective and a verb

  • it's a way of life, a state of mind, a warm atmosphere or vibe, being together, coziness

Anything from having coffee in a cafe with your bff to a warm glow of candlelight to cuddling at home on the couch with your fave person/people or your pup to the vibe you get walking down a quaint and cozy neighborhood street - it's all hygge.

I had a hygglig time with my friends exploring the city, the culture, eating, chatting and just spending quality time together.

Even though I'd like to think I have regular hygge in my life, I'll now aim to thoughtfully ensure it's a part my daily and weekly routine because this is a part of well-being, health and longevity.

Try to get some in your life this week and think about what hygge you can call out in your life now!
