Affirmations
We've all had a point in our lives where we speak negatively to and about ourselves, both in the quiet conversations in our head as well as outwardly with other people. We self-deprecate, put ourselves down, we're even downright mean at times.
We look at ourselves and will always pick out the things we'd change or that we don't like, rarely starting with what's amazing about the person staring back in the mirror. And what's even more disturbing is that our kids can start young, doing the same exact thing, when they're exposed to all these external factors telling them they're not good enough.
Affirmations are a way to combat the negative self-talk, offer a way to shift from negative to positive thinking patterns, help you achieve goals and motivate you to change behaviors and emotions that are holding you back.
A big part of making healthy lifestyle changes is starting with the way you talk to yourself and bringing those emotions to the forefront to keep propelling you forward. Self-efficacy--the belief you CAN achieve a goal--lies at the foundation of actually achieving what you want.
